About the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium Scholarships

This scheme is set up to assist in the training of eye health professionals possessing strong skills in public health. The target individuals for the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium Scholarships 2016/2017 are those from low- and middle-income countries in Africa. Awards under the programme will be made towards obtaining a Master’s degree in Public Health (Community Eye Health) at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

The Master’s programme is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills needed to come up with and manage viable eye care programmes that are particularly tailored to meet the needs of people on the continent. The course will also enable students to carry out effective clinical and operational research that can help in the attainment of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight.

Eligibility

The single eligibility criterion stipulated by the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium Scholarships 2016/2017 organisers is that applicants should be citizens of low- or middle-income African countries that are members of the Commonwealth. It is seemingly assumed that you are already aware the scholarships are for people engaged in eye health care.

Application and Deadline

• Express interest in applying for the scholarship using a Registration of Interest form on the scholarship page

Award Worth

No figure is put on what the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium Scholarships are worth. But it is said to cover course fees as well as travel and accommodation costs.
