It is made using more than 5,000 water ripple elements and offers a curve touch that makes it fit nicely into your hand. The construction is strengthened with metal frames. The thickness is put at 8.5 millimetres, making for a relatively slim device. The Huawei G Power will be accompanied by a massive 4,000mAh battery, which the Chinese phone manufacturer promises will deliver talk time of up to 39 hours. The juicer supports fast charging, with a 10-minute charge supposedly enough to get you talking for up to three hours. Huawei MediaPad M2 10

Design

Huawei MediaPad M2 10 sports a premium unibody design with an all-aluminium chassis and a sandblasted metal finish. It is impressively thin at a thickness of just 7.35 millimetres, which drop to 5.0 millimetres at the thinnest point. The weight is about 500 grams. The massive tablet should feel comfortable to handle with this design.

The tablet crams in a colossal 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, translating into a pixel density of about 224 ppi. Judging by the display technology, the MediaPad M2 10 should make for enjoyable content viewing with friends. There is a 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash and autofocus on the rear, and another 5-megapixel unit on the front for selfies.

The 64-bit CPU is capable of speeds of up to 2 GHz. It will be supported in its processing task by either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM, depending on version bought. Internal storage capacity will be 16 GB or 64 GB, expandable by another 128 GB via the microSD card slot. The slate will still run on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, which some people may consider a disappointing choice at this time. The OS will be coated by Huawei’s EMUI 3.1 skin.

It supports ultra-fast 4G LTE connectivity along with 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac. In addition to storage options, Huawei MediaPad M2 10 will differ in terms of Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity options. The Mate S is Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone and probably its best to date. The high-end device sports a stunning all-metal design and boasts Force Touch technology and an octa-core processor, amongst several others impressive specifications. It comes in standard, premium and luxury versions.

Design and Build Quality

Huawei impressed a lot of people with its P8 and Mate 7 devices and it is forging ahead with that in its latest flagship smartphone. Huawei Mate S flaunts a sleek and stylish design with a body made of anodised aluminium that helps to make it less slippery. It can be mistaken for an Apple or HTC device such as the iPhone 6 Plus and One M9. The handset is both slim and lightweight at only 7.2 millimetres and 156 grams respectively. It is available in gold, grey, champagne and rose gold colours, depending on model bought.

Huawei-Mate-S

Display

The Huawei Mate S crams in a phablet-class 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels for a pixel density of 401 ppi making for awesome clarity. Some rival smartphones boast greater screen resolution, but FHD is practical enough for a device of this size. The 2.5D display is curved towards the edges and protected by super-tough Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The luxury edition of the Mate S comes with a Force Touch display, similar to the 3D Touch on Apple’s new iPhone 6S. The pressure-sensitive technology lets you perform a variety of functions by applying differing levels of pressure on the display. It can be used for faster navigation and can transform the phone display into an object-weighing mechanism.

Camera

This premium smartphone packs an impressive 13-megapixel primary camera with F2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS) to enable you take superior quality shots, even in low-light environment. The shooter is designed to lock in focus very fast, so that you never miss out on an important moment. It can shoot up to Full-HD (1080p) videos – 4K video capability would have been better for this sort of device, by the way. For selfies, you are offered a robust 8-megapixel with soft light.

Hardware and Software

Decked out for convincing performance, Huawei Mate S packs an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 935 processor, which has four cores pacing along at an amazing 2.2 GHz and the other four at 1.5 GHz. Highly responsive performance is furthered ensured with the provision of 3 GB of RAM. Standard onboard storage is 32 GB, but you can get 64 GB on the premium version and a whopping 128 GB on the luxury edition. The phablet runs on Android 5.1.1 operating system overlaid with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 user interface.

Sundry Specs and Features

Huawei Mate S has two SIM card slots, one of which may be used for storage expansion. It features a fingerprint scanner on the rear for faster unlock and other functions. The phone also has a knuckle control feature which lets you launch apps using your knuckle. It packs a 2700mAh battery that has been observed to deliver better performance than rival flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9+, thanks to efficient power management implemented by Huawei. The Mate S supports super-fast 4G LTE connectivity as well as high-speed USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz)

Pricing

The standard version of the Huawei Mate S sells for about $725 (over N140,000 in Nigeria), while the 64GB model goes for around $780 (about N155,000). The price of the 128GB luxury edition has not been disclosed yet.
