This midrange smartphone exhibits a solid, durable construction, enhanced by its metal frames. It offers a soft touch feel on the rear to make for sure grip. At about 9mm thick, the Lenovo K4 Note is thicker than the K3 Note, but should still make for decent one-handed use despite its large size. It crams in similar 5.5-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a brightness level of 450 nits. Being an IPS panel, this touchscreen offers immersive wide-angle viewing of almost 180 degrees. Games, movies and photos should come alive on this one. The display is protected by tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Lenovo K4 Note is fitted with a robust 13-megapixel ISOCELL camera with dual-tone LED flash and phase detection autofocus on the rear. Flip the phablet around and you are presented with another 5-megapixel snapper for share-worthy selfies. Lenovo offers 16 GB of onboard storage on the device – enough to hold thousands of files. The K4 Note also comes with microSD support to allow you expand storage space by another 128 GB, if you happen to need more.

Under the hood, the Lenovo K4 Note features an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which, somewhat surprisingly, has a lower clock rate than the CPU on the K3 Note – 1.3 GHz compared to 1.7 GHz. It comes with higher 3 GB of RAM, however, for impressive multitasking and superior responsiveness. The phablet boots newer Android 5.1 Lollipop software, which is overlaid with a light version of Lenovo’s Vibe UI skin. All-day power is supplied by a large 3,300mAh battery.

The Lenovo K4 Note is no doubt intended for those users who love to play games or watch movies on their devices. It packs a pair of powerful front-firing speakers backed by Dolby Atmos audio technology for superb, distortion-free sound. It also boasts a TheaterMax technology which is expected to enable users enjoy ‘widescreen cinematic experience.’ When paired with an ANT VR headset (which can be bundled with the K4 Note), the technology lets users view movies and games on a humongous virtual screen with a 100-degree diagonal field of view.

The smartphone also comes with a square-shaped fingerprint scanner below the rear camera for unlocking, accessing menu, or taking shots. It offers blazing-fast 4G LTE connectivity as well as Near Field Communication (NFC) support. The Lenovo K4 Note supports dual-SIM functionality.

Pricing and Availability

The phone is listed on Lenovo’s Indian website at a price of Rs. 11,998 and sales has since commenced in that Asian country. It is not clear how soon this will be available in Nigeria, but you may have to pay a price in the range N35,000-N40,000 when it eventually does. The Lenovo K4 Note represents good value at that price.

The new Lenovo K3 Note looks like a device to further help the Chinese company cement its position in this segment. Under the hood, Lenovo K3 Note is armed with an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor which runs along at speeds of up to 1.7 GHz. The 64-bit chip is paired with RAM of 2GB capacity to drive decent enough responsiveness and multitasking. The phablet boots Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which has Lenovo’s Vibe UI 2.0 user interface laid on top of it.

The K3 Note is accompanied by a 2,900mAh Lithium-Ion battery, which Lenovo says will support up to 36 hours of continuous calls. The big smartphone’s multimedia credentials is further highlighted with the presence of Dolby Atmos Audio technology for rich sound when playing games or watching movies.

There is a dual-SIM feature to enable you use two SIM cards simultaneously. Lenovo K3 Note supports 4G LTE connectivity for lightning-fast mobile data speeds.

Lenovo K3 Note is listed on its maker’s Indian website at a price of 9,999 rupees, which converts to a price around N30,000 in Nigeria. To be honest, this smartphone represents great value at that price.
