Lenovo is one of those phone makers that have become more popular around these parts and many other developing countries across the globe for delivery good devices at great prices. Its Vibe series is known for featuring impressive smartphones offered at budget-friendly prices. One of the interesting additions to the range this year is the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. This is an upgraded variant of the Vibe K5 launched back in early March. If you are in the market for a phone that won’t put you on compulsory fasting after purchase, you may want to have a look at this one. This Plus variant offers you something more powerful than the regular model while also delivering enhanced entertainment experience.
Design and Display
It is not much of a surprise to find the body of the Vibe K5 Plus is made of plastic, given its pocket-friendly price. But the choice of material doesn’t make this one of your regular, ugly budget smartphones. It looks decently elegant and offers options of gold, silver and grey finish. The phone’s durability is boosted with a thin metal round the middle. It is decently slim at about 8 millimetres in thickness.
On the front of the original Vibe K5 is a 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. That display was good enough for enjoyable wide-angle viewing when watching movies with friends. The screen size remains unchanged here. But if you want better picture quality, you need to check out the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus which boasts Full HD (1080p) for superb colours and clarity.
Camera and Storage
You get a combo of 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel camera for shot taking. This setup has somewhat become the minimum on new smartphones. The primary camera features autofocus and LED flash while also boasting Full HD video recording capability. For storing your photos and other stuffs, you get respectable internal storage of 16 GB and you can expand this by additional 32 GB using a microSD card via a dedicated slot.
Performance and OS
Under the hood, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus hides a more robust Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, compared to the Snapdragon 415 chipset on the regular variant. The 64-bit chip is backed by the same 2 GB of RAM. Your games and movies should run smoothly with this configuration. The operating system is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which has Lenovo’s VibeUI skin overlaid on it.
Sundry Specs and Features
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is equipped with a 2,750mAh Lithium-Ion battery rated to last more than eight hours on the regular variant. It features dual stereo speakers and active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone. The speakers are backed by Dolby Atmos Audio for cinematic sound when watching movies.
The dual-SIM device supports super-fast 4G LTE connectivity. You also get other regular connectivity features such as Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0, USB OTB, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs. 8,499 in India. You are looking at a price around N43,000 here in Nigeria. This puts the phone in the same price segment as the likes of the Leagoo Elite 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
