ZTE V3 Youth – Incredible Metal-bodied Smartphone on a Budget

In the previous post on the stunning ZTE Axon Lux smartphone with 128GB onboard storage I did state that Asian tech companies like Samsung, HTC and smaller players like ZTE maintain a very tight hold on the market. The main thing that works for these companies is their habit of providing high-end specs at lower prices. The new ZTE V3 Youth is another device that has again exhibit this. Metal chassis are considered to be reserved for expensive flagships such as Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M8s, but the V3 Youth and its equally-affordable siblings V3 Energy and V3 Extreme boast this characteristic along with some other interesting specs.

Design and Display

The ZTE V3 Youth flaunts a full-metal chassis along with a svelte profile at approximately 8.6 millimetres. In addition, it has a fingerprint sensor on the rear for enhanced security – another feature nearly restricted to higher-end devices. The smartphone, which has very thin bezels, features a silver finish. The display is a 5.5-inch behemoth with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. That touchscreen is another impressive thing for a phone in its price range.

Camera and Storage

The low mid-range smartphone is said to feature a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with F2.2 aperture size. There is also reportedly a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. It is almost incredible to believe ZTE V3 Youth actually has this camera combo. Onboard storage will be a generous 16 GB, which will be expandable up to 128 GB using a microSD card. Honestly, these specs sound very hard to believe.

Processor and Sundry Specs

It is said that the affordable ZTE V3 Youth will be driven by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. What you have there is an octa-core processor running at up to 1 GHz. The 64-bit chip is paired with ample 2 GB of RAM. The phone runs on ZTE’s Nubia UI 3.0 software, which is based on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. ZTE V3 Youth will be powered by a large 3000mAh battery, which is non-removable. It has dual-SIM functionality and dual 4G LTE network support.

ZTE V3 Youth Price and Availability

The phone is expected to go on sale in China and uncertainty hangs over its availability elsewhere for now, except you will be buying online from a Chinese website. ZTE V3 Youth will sell for $160, which is equivalent to less than N32,000 in price in Nigeria. That will be a steal if the reported specs are indeed real.
