ZTE’s Axon series features devices with attention-grabbing features offered at very reasonable prices – take the case of the Axon Lux at the time of its launch. The ZTE Axon Max is one of the newer offerings in the range and, expectedly, provides buyers with some fascinating features. It shows off a very premium design and packs a battery that will get you running for hours on end.
Design
A look at the Axon Max and you are likely to see an attempt by ZTE to come up with a design that rivals those of popular market leaders. Its chassis is fashioned out of the same hard-wearing material used for construction of aircraft. More specifically, the 7.5mm thin phablet flaunts a body made of Boeing 787-grade aluminium-titanium alloy. Awesome, you say? This is a warrior, obviously. The aesthetic appeal is enhanced by the imitation leather bands provided at the phone’s ends.
Display and Camera
The ZTE Axon Max takes its awesomeness to the display – a mammoth 6-inch unit with Full HD (1080p) resolution. The AMOLED touchscreen promises enjoyable experience when watching movies with friends.
This is a camera-focused phablet as evidenced by what you find in the camera department. Take a look at the back and you will be confronted with a robust 16-megapixel shooter with an f/1.9 aperture, fast phase detection autofocus, and LED flash. This is a photography monster! Buyers also get a primary camera-like 13-megapixel snapper on the front for awesome selfies.
Processor, Memory and Operating System
Solid performance is not sacrificed on the ZTE Axon Max either as it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor. The promise of fluid performance and smooth gaming is further guaranteed with the availability of an Adreno 405 GPU and ample 3 GB of RAM. The Axon Max is definitely a beast. It comes with generous integrated storage of 32 GB that many users may find sufficient for their needs. The handset can also take up to 128GB microSD cards for storage expansion. Out of the box, the device will run on ZTE’s MiFavor 3.5 UI which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Sundry Features
A headline feature of the ZTE Axon Max is its colossal 4,140mAh battery. This eye-popping juicer eliminates the need for carrying around a charger all the time. Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 lets you get the battery to 60% level, from 0%, in just half an hour.
It is equipped with the four-channel AK4961 24-bit ADC for superb audio. The Axon Max packs a fingerprint on its rear for added security and other functions. Expectedly, the dual-SIM behemoth offers 4G LTE support. You also get a reversible USB Type-C port.
Pricing and Availability
The ZTE Axon Max has since gone on sale since December in China. Its price of CNY 2,799 converts to about N86,000 in Nigeria. But you should expect to pay up to N120,000 to get one in the country, going by the current exchange rate drama. There is no word on availability outside China, which means the only way to get one at this time would be to buy it online. Considering its features, the Axon Max delivers super value for money!
