Chinese phone maker Gionee has unveiled the latest addition to its Elife S series of mid-range smartphones. The new Gionee Elife S6 features a slim and elegant design, as is usually the case with devices in this line-up, as well as a metal body, a large HD display, an octa-core processor and LTE support.

Design and Display
If you love classy devices that you won’t be shy to show off to friends, the Gionee Elife S6 might just cut it for you. It flaunts looks you would ordinarily expect in dearer devices. The phone parades a chassis made of metal and an attractively slim profile at just 6.9mm thick. It is stands apart from earlier devices in the S series line-up that had glass rear and is supposedly just 4mm thick at its thinnest point. It will be made available in gold and platinum. The Elife S6 packs a massive 5.5-inch AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels for decent screen clarity. It has interestingly thin bezels on the sides.
Camera and Storage
For a mid-range smartphone, Gionee Elife S6 impresses on the camera front. It packs a 13-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash and Full HD (1080p) video recording capability. The selfie snapper is a capable 5-megapixel unit. You get ample 32 GB of onboard storage memory for storing all your precious photos and files. Memory expansion of up to 128 GB is supported with the use of a microSD card.
Processor, RAM and OS
The Gionee Elife S6 is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which is paired with ample 3 GB of RAM and a Mali T-720 GPU. With this configuration, you should be able to use multiple apps at the same time with relative ease. You should, however, moderate your speed expectation as the chip is clocked at 1.3 GHz. The phone will boot Gionee’s Amigo OS 3.1 software which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.
Sundry Features
This phone should last you a whole day at work on a charge without needing to top the 3150mAh battery. It boasts blazing-fast 4G LTE connectivity on compatible networks, while also featuring a reversible USB Type-C port. Connectivity options on Gionee Elife S6 also include 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and, expectedly, Wi-Fi. It has a hybrid slot that can hold either a second SIM card or a microSD card.
Pricing and Availability
Gionee Elife S6 was announced in its maker’s home country of China at a price of CNY 1699, which could put the sale price in Nigeria at anywhere between N53,000 and N60,000. It is scheduled to go on sale from November 22. There is no official information on international pricing and availability at this time.
