As part of efforts geared towards meeting the mandate given it by the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is organising a Geosciences Training Programme to build local manpower and participation in the oil and gas industry.
About the Training Programme
The PTDF Geosciences Training Programme (GTP) 2015 appears to be the inaugural edition of this training scheme, which is ‘designed to increase local capacities for geosciences knowledge, application and analytical skills in the oil and gas industry.’ The PTDF Geosciences Training Programme (GTP) 2015 is a five-month training programme aimed at Nigerian graduates of geology or geosciences discipline. The training will be conducted at the Laser Petroleum Geosciences Centre in Port Harcourt.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the PTDF Geosciences Training Programme (GTP) 2015, you need to:
– Be a Nigerian graduate of geology or geosciences
– Have a minimum of second class lower (2:2) degree
– Have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service year
– Not be older than 30 years
– Be computer literate
– Be available to complete a six-month post-training attachment programme.
Application
Please be aware that you need to meet all stated requirements to apply, otherwise you will simply be wasting your time. If you are qualified for the PTDF Geosciences Training Programme (GTP) 2015, you are to upload and forward the following documents to geosciencestraining@ptdf.gov.ng:
– O’ Level result (WAEC or NECO)
– First degree and/or MSc certificate
– NYSC discharge certificate
– Birth certificate or age declaration
– Evidence of state of origin
– Passport photograph
You are required to provide your phone number and email address for easy contact.
After sending the required documents to the provided email address, you need to complete a Google Form. You have until August 21 to get in your application if you are interested in being part of the PTDF Geosciences Training Programme (GTP) 2015. The PTDF says limited number of people will be sponsored to be part of the training.
please how will one know that he or she qualifies for the geosciences training programme. and wen is the programme commencing.

First, I don’t think HND can apply, judging from the demand for a minimum of second class (2:2). Second, I’m afraid it’s already too late to apply; deadline was August 21.
Pls i applied for the training before the deadline and i met all the stated conditions but i have from them. Should i still hope?

It’s a good thing that you applied before the deadline. I also don’t know if there has been a shortlist. I’ll only advise that you just relax and hope for the best. These people often take a while before shortlisting candidates.

Hi, I received a call from ptdf on Friday that I have been shortlisted for the first batch of the training set to commence in November 2015. No precise date but I’ve had to defer my msc admission to enable me be a part of the training in rivers state. So if you haven’t been contacted don’t worry they are still placing calls and there would be another batch of trainees.

I was also contacted last month(October 2015) that the training will commence this month but i have not heard from them and the month is ending next week any news of the exact situation now?
Since you’ve been contacted, I’ll just advise that you keep your fingers crossed. Sometimes, companies don’t stick strictly to their words, especially when the thing in focus is not bringing them money.

a. This is only applicable for prospective MSc Candidates.
PHD does interview only.
b. Major criteria for shortlisting was your “statement of
purpose/personal statement”. Some 2.2 candidates with
good personal statement that tailors smoothly were
shortlisted while 2.1 applicants with poorly written
statement were not.
c. Use a computer to check your status.
HOW TO CHECK IF YOU ARE SHORTLISTED FOR EXAM
Go to http://ptdf.esms.cinfores.com
Proceed to “Choose Exam location”and enter your PIN then
click continue.
If SHORTLISTED for the exam, you will be able to select the
location of your choice
which is either Lagos, Abuja and PortHarcourt.
IF you are NOT SHORTLISTED, The following statement will
appear in red; “You Are Not Shortlisted!”
