NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards 2015/2016

About the Scholarship

The NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards 2015/2016 is part of efforts by Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), the operator of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and MPN Joint Venture, to boost educational development and human capacity building in Nigeria. The oil company says its affiliates have supported the education of thousands of Nigerian students as far back 1974 through diverse scholarship schemes. A total of 500 awards have supposedly been made annually since 1998 – significantly up from just 13 at inception in 1974.

Coverage and Eligibility

Undergraduate students from all states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), currently enrolled in any university within the country will be considered for the NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards 2015/2016. In addition, you need to meet the following eligibility conditions:

• Hold an SSCE certificate, or its equivalent, with a minimum of six subjects passed at a sitting
• Be an 100-level or 200-level undergraduate student admitted either during the 2014/2015 or 2013/2014 academic session
• Be enrolled for any of the following courses in your school:

– Petroleum Engineering
– Chemical Engineering
– Mechanical Engineering
– Electrical and Electronics Engineering
– Civil Engineering
– Geology and Geophysics
– Medicine (exclusively MBBS)
– Agricultural Science (and related fields)
– Computer Science


Only e-applications will be accepted for the NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards 2015/2016 via the scholarship page. You will need to get the following items scanned and at hand before proceeding to make your application:

• Passport photograph with white background not more than 3 months old (450px by 450px not more than 200kb)
• Current University ID card
• Admission letter
• Birth certificate
• O’ Level result
• JAMB Result
• SSCE result or its equivalent
• Evidence of State of origin obtained from the appropriate Local Government Area and duly signed by the Chairman or Secretary

The above documents, when scanned, need to be named according to what they represent. You should exercise due diligence to ensure appropriate documents are attached when requested.

It is important to note that dependents (especially children) of Mobil Nigeria employees are not eligible to apply for the NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards 2015/2016. Also, those currently enjoying scholarship awards from other oil and gas companies are not allowed to apply.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for computer-administered tests that will be holding in select centres across Nigeria. You are advised to supply a phone number and an e-mail address you expect to keep active for easy contact if shortlisted.
