If you haven’t heard yet, applications are currently being received for the Nigerian Stock Exchange Essay Competition 2016 which is targeted at students in secondary schools across the country.

About the Scholarship

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Essay Competition themed “Building a Sustainable Capital Market” is one of the Exchange’s financial education and inclusion schemes geared toward building a financially knowledgeable generation. It was started in 2001.

This year’s edition of the Nigerian Stock Exchange essay challenge, like last year’s edition, will have the overall winner walk away with N750,000 (in shares and scholarship money) plus a brand new laptop of the most recent model. To qualify for this scholarship and the extra goodies, you are required to do the following:

Eligibility Conditions

– The Competition is open to only students in Senior Secondary Schools
– Entries must be prepared in English and be the original work of the student entering for the competition
– The essay must be on the essay form with all the mandatory fields completed
– Maximum word count is 1000

You need to display originality and creativity in your entry. Effort must be made to focus on the topic at hand with proper English grammar used to convey your ideas. Your essay must contain correctly-spelt words with proper punctuation and clean work presentation.

Prizes

The following are what entrants stand the chance of winning in the Nigerian Stock Exchange Essay Competition 2016.

FIRST PLACE

Student

– N250,000 worth of shares
– N500,000 scholarship fund for University Education
– Laptop
– Certificate of Achievement
– Headline an NSE (Market close) Closing Gong ceremony

 

SECOND PLACE

Student

– N200,000 worth of shares
– N400,000 scholarship fund for university education
– Laptop
– Certificate of achievement
– Participate in a Closing Gong ceremony

 

THIRD PLACE

Student

– N150,000 worth of shares
– N300,000 scholarship fund for university education
– Laptop
– Certificate of achievement
– Participate in a Closing Gong ceremony

 

There will also be seven mini-laptops as consolation prizes for seven national winners.

Schools of competition winners would also be given trophies, personal computers (PCs), and printers.

Essentially, you can not only make yourself, but possibly your school as well by finishing in the top three.

Deadline

If you are a secondary school student with interest in the Nigerian Stock Exchange Essay Competition 2016, or know someone who is, you have until 14 October 2016 to get your application in.
