The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is calling suitably qualified PhD students to apply for its research grant award.

About the Grant Program

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) Research Grant is formally known as the Chief S. L. Edu Research Grant and is offered to PhD students of Nigerian extraction with interest in undertaking research work in fields related to sustainable livelihood and nature conservation. The grant is offered by the foundation with the assistance of Chevron Nigeria Limited. It will be offered for three years until the award of a PhD degree.


Eligibility and Requirements

In order to apply for Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) Research Grant, you must:

* Be a Nigerian citizen
* Have an MSc Degree or equivalent qualification in Biological Sciences, Social Sciences or Law (Environmental Law/Protection) but related to environmental resources management.
* Have secured admission into a Nigerian university for a PhD degree in any of the fields stated above.
* Develop acceptable research proposals that meet NCF’s vision and mission.

The following requirements should also be noted by those applying for Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) Research Grant:

* Proposals must have correlation with local and national environmental conservation challenges and issues.
* A progress report on a letter-head paper from the applicant’s Project Supervisor(s) stating progress on research work and applicant’s role in the initial review; relevance to the objectives of the grant is a very vital consideration for any application. Note: A reference letter is an equivalent of a Progress Report from the Supervisor(s).
* 200-word justification, with relevance to natural and environmental resource management and biodiversity conservation.
*A 3,000-word project proposal to be submitted should reflect the Title, Introduction/Statement of Problem, Objectives, Methodology and Expected Output etc.
* Curriculum vitae (not more than 2 pages detailing research and work experience).
* Scanned copy of admission letter.

Application and Deadline

Interested and qualified individuals can apply for Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) Research Grant using the application form on the NCF website. You have until 27 November 2015 to get your application in.
