ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 is a Budget-Friendly, Elegant Tablet

ASUS is one of those tech companies that have helped to make the mobile device market more competitive, with many great products, such as the selfie-focused ZenFone Selfie, at more affordable prices. The new ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 is another good proposition in value from the Taiwanese company. The tablet features a stylish and relatively portable design along with entry-level specifications. Users have a choice to make between a MediaTek processor and an Intel Atom processor – both with four cores.

Design and Build

Despite featuring a plastic chassis, the ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 does look rather elegant for a slate this cheap. It has appealing rounded edges and textured rear for assured grip as well as a metallic frame coating enhanced with non-conductive vacuum metallization (NCVM) technology for a premium feel and better protection. The tablet has a dimension of 189 x 108 x 8.4 millimetres and weighs in at 265 grams. You will be able to choose among white, black, red, and ‘Aurora Metallic’ colour variants.

Display and Camera

As you would have probably guessed from its name, ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 packs a 7-inch display with a rather poor resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The IPS touchscreen features LED backlighting and ASUS VisualMaster suite of technologies for decent viewing experience. The slate packs a pair of 5MP rear-facing camera and VGA (0.3MP) front-facing cameras – today’s hallmark of budget devices. It is safe to say you should not expect to capture eye-popping images with these snappers.

Hardware and Software

In terms of processor, ASUS offers two quad-core options for the ZenPad C 7.0. You either choose a MediaTek processor clocked at a speed of 1.3 GHz or go with an Intel Atom processor running at 1.2 GHz. Whatever option chosen will be paired with 1 GB of RAM. Onboard storage is 8 GB or 16 GB, expandable by a maximum of 64 GB using a microSD card. That is ample space for a good number of your favourite movies and songs. ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 boots Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which is overlaid with its maker’s Zen UI skin.

Sundry Features

The tablet has dual-SIM slots, with 3G connectivity supported on one of the slots. Connectivity options also include Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. You should expect to enjoy decent sound quality with the provision of DTS-HD Premium Sound and SonicMaster technology. Power is supplied by a decent 3450mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of runtime.

Pricing and Availability

ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 has gone on sale in some Asian countries, including India, where it sells for a bargain price of Rs. 7,999. That price converts to around N25,000 in Nigeria, making for a decent deal.
