Apple iPhone 7 Debuts

The latest Apple flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7, is here! Dubbed the ‘most advanced iPhone ever,’ the new high-end device comes with a robust and stylish design, amazing camera systems, and a battery said to offer the best runtime ever in the range. There is also a larger iPhone 7 Plus on offer as is Apple’s tradition.

Design and Display

The Apple iPhone 7 parades an appealing design, which bears significant similarity to that of the predecessor flagship. It boasts an appealing svelte profile at just 7.1 millimetres (7.3 millimetres for iPhone 7 Plus). The edges are curvy to make the device fit nicely into your hands. In addition to gold, rose gold, and silver, the new phone offers two new black finish options: anodized matte black and jet black. It is water-resistant – able to survive up to a minute in water depth of up to one meter. The Home button has been redesigned to be more responsive and durable.

In terms of size, nothing has changed on the new iPhone 7. It still comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and a bigger 5.5-inch touchscreen on the iPhone 7 Plus. Apple says the new phone has the brightest and most colourful display ever in the range. The screen is said to be 25 percent brighter and a wider colour gamut. The bigger variant delivers better viewing experience.

Camera

In the camera department, Apple has also carried out some improvements. The iPhone 7 features a 12-megapixel rear camera which comes with a wider f/1.8 aperture and a 6-element lens. It appears you are going to find this one a joy to use in capturing images in dimly-lit environment when you also consider it is accompanied by an innovative quad-LED, dual-tone flash. The camera system boasts optical image stabilisation and stunning 4K video recording capability. It promises faster image capturing. The larger iPhone 7 adds another 12-megapixel shooter to the main 12-megapixel unit for 2X optical zoom as well as up to 10 times higher digital zoom for still images.

The selfie camera has also received an upgrade. Resolution has been upped to 7 megapixels, from 5 megapixels on the iPhone 6. The snapper also now offers you ability to shoot Full HD (1,080p) videos.

Performance and OS

The Apple iPhone 7 is equipped with a new custom-designed A10 chip, unsurprisingly described as the ‘most powerful chip ever in a smartphone.’ The 64-bit CPU features four cores to deliver enough power to enable the smartphone perform up to two times faster than its predecessor. The chip is also designed to be more energy-efficient. Graphics is said to have also received a shot in the arm, zipping along at speeds up to three times faster than on the iPhone 6. Apple equips its latest flagship smartphone with its most advanced operating system, the iOS 10.

Audio

The new stereo speakers on the iPhone 7 will treat your ears to immersive sound that is two times louder than what you got from the previous generation smartphone, according to Apple. The American tech company says you should expect improved dynamic sound range. Particularly interesting are the new wireless headphones called AirPods, which features the new W1 chip. These connect to the iPhone 7 via a Lightning connector to deliver awesome sound and efficient wireless communication while also boasting impressive battery life. The AirPods offers stress-free connection to the digital assistant Siri. But you are going to need a complementary adaptor if you need to use headphones that rely on the standard 3.5mm jack.

Sundry Information

The iPhone 7 is rated to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time or 10-day standby. You will be able to get the device in 32GB, 128GB or 256GB variant. It supports LTE Advanced for download speeds rated to be three times faster than what the iPhone 6 offered.

Pricing and Availability

The starting price for the iPhone 7 is $649, and $769 for the iPhone 7 Plus. Prices differ in different countries. Apple smartphones have been known right from time to be on the high-end in terms of price, which has made them class statements. The prices are just what you’d expect. The top-end models cost $849 and $969 for the regular and Plus variants respectively. The latest flagship smartphones are scheduled to go on sale from September 16. If you need something cheaper and awesome, you can check out China-made devices such as the Cool1 Dual and Meizu MX6.
