ZTE Unveils Nubia Z11 with Flagship-grade Snapdragon 820 CPU, 6GB RAM

Chinese phone maker ZTE has finally unveiled its latest flagship phone, the Nubia Z11, at an event in China. The plus-sized smartphone boasts of flagship-grade specifications, ranging from Qualcomm’s best mobile CPU yet to abundant RAM and superb cameras.

Design and Display

Showcasing an all-metal body, the ZTE Nubia Z11 does not disappoint with the quality of its design. This gives users peace of mind on damage from accidental drops. The 162-gram handset boasts a pleasantly svelte profile at just 7.5 mm in thickness. It crams in an almost bezel-less 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1,080p) resolution for immersive viewing. A curvy, rugged Corning Gorilla Glass 3 provides protection from scratches to the vivid screen.

Camera

With a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 rear camera, this phablet is built to churn out superb images. This much is further guaranteed with high-end features such as phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and dual-tone LED flash. The lens of the primary shooter boasts robust sapphire protection. The selfie shooter on the Nubia Z11 is no slacker either. The front-facing camera has an 8-megapixel resolution, f/2.4 aperture, and wide field of view of 80 degrees to enable you to capture more people or scenery into your selfies.

Hardware and Software

The ZTE Nubia Z11 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor – arguably the best CPU to be found on any non-Apple flagship smartphone. This powerful chip, which is clocked at 2.15g GHz, is backed by ample RAM for seamless multitasking. The phablet comes in two variants. A model will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, while the second version will turn things up a notch with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage. You will also be able to expand storage on both models by up to 200 GB using a microSD card. The Nubia Z11 boots ZTE’s own Nubia UI 4.0 software which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Sundry Features

Juice will be supplied to this huge smartphone by a 3,000mAh battery that some may say is not entirely awesome going by the rising trend in the market these days. The juicer should still do well and it supports Quick Charge 3.0 for rapid charging. On the rear of the ZTE Nubia Z11 is a superfast fingerprint sensor said to unlock the device in just 0.1 second. It comes with 4G LTE and USB Type-C support along with other regular connectivity options. You get hybrid dual SIM slots, which means one of these double as a SIM and microSD card slot. Superb sound is part of the package with support for Dolby Atmos technology and SmartPA amplifier.

Availability and Pricing

The Nubia Z11 is set to go on sale in China on July 6, with prices starting at CNY 2,499 for the 4GB RAM model. The 6GB RAM variant is to sell for CNY 3,499. You are looking at a price in the range N120,000-N170,000 to have a unit of the device in Nigeria, although it is not yet clear if the phablet will be sold outside its home country. ZTE has a practice of making its awesome smartphone exclusive, at least, at the initial stage – it did the same thing with the Axon Lux and Max.
