Meizu Debuts MX6 with 10-Core Processor, 4GB RAM

Chinese phone manufacturer Meizu has made another interesting addition to its portfolio of reasonably-priced smartphones packed with awesome specifications. The new MX6, a mid-ranger, parades a premium design and boasts superb power with a deca-core CPU packed under the hood.

Design and Display

It’s probably everybody’s guess that this latest smartphone from Meizu sports an appealing all-metal body. The MX6 features a chic unibody design and comes in gold, silver and grey variants. One may not be wrong to say the gold flavour will be buyers’ favourite here. It is impressively slim as well at just 7.25mm in thickness. The handset is not overly heavy either at 155 grams.

The Meizu MX6 is equipped with a brilliant 5.5-inch LCD display with a Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. A pixel density slightly higher than 400 pixels per inch promises exciting visuals. It boasts a Smart Eye Protection feature which will help users enjoying reading on the screen by automatically adjusting brightness based on light conditions where the phablet is used. The Sharp display is overlaid with a piece of curvy 2.5D glass.

Camera and Storage

On the rear of the device is a 12-megapixel shooter which uses a new Sony IMX368 sensor – it is supposedly the first handset to use this. The primary camera has an f/2.0 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus and dual-tone flash for excellent image capturing. Meizu has compared shot quality to what you get from the Samsung Galaxy S7 series. The camera offers GIF, slow-motion, and panorama modes. For selfie taking, a 5-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 4-element lens is provided on the front.

Hardware and Software

The MX6 is armed with a 10-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor. This powerful CPU has four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.4 GHz; another four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.9 GHz, and an extra two Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz. This smartphone looks built to impress with ample 4 GB of RAM also on board. An ARM Mali-T880 graphics solution ensures you enjoy awesome gaming on this one. However, you only get 32 GB of onboard storage – there is no mention of a microSD card slot. There is talk of a 64GB model being released sometime in the future. The Meizu MX6 boots its maker’s latest Flyme 5.1 software, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Sundry Specs and Features

A 3,060mAh battery supplies power to the phablet and is supported by Meizu’s M charge tech. The fast charging technology supposedly can boost the juicer to 25% capacity in only 10 minutes and 65% in half an hour. The Meizu MX6 offers super-fast 4G LTE (Cat. 6) connectivity for awesome mobile data speeds.

There is a reversible USB Type-C port for super-fast charging and data transfer. Connectivity features also include Bluetooth 4.1 and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The dual-SIM handset has a 360-degree-recognition fingerprint sensor that gets it unlocked in just 0.2 seconds nestled in its Home button.

Pricing and Availability

NDTV’s Gadgets 360 reports that the Meizu MX6 would be immediately available via partner online channels. It will go on sale via brick-and-mortar outlets from July 30. The all-metal phablet will set you back by 1,999 yuan, which converts to a little over N88,000 using official exchange rate. But you could end up paying in excess of N100,000 going by present exchange rate reality.
